Lip Gloss for a Gorgeous Pout

They call it the Angelina Jolie effect - plump pouty lips are the new way women are judged for beauty. Women who are naturally blessed with the lips that just inviting in this way do what they can to not hide the fact; those who have thinner lips try to find ways to bring on the effect of plumper, fuller and poutier lips - with collagen, Botox or anything else that they can get their hands on.

While these methods work undoubtedly, injecting your lips that stuff does come with a certain amount of pain. Is there a way to go about it without the attendant discomfort? You bet, there is; it's called plumping lip gloss. Not only does it not put you through any discomfort, it's cheap as well.

How on earth can lip gloss plump your lips up, you ask? All plumping lip gloss products work on one common theme - they all contain a mild irritant in their make up. The kind of irritant each brand uses is a proprietary secret, of course.Usually, they are something harmless, like cinnamon, peppermint or menthol.

These irritate the surface of your lips, bring in a little extra blood flow to the irritated area, and plump your lips up for a fuller look. For a little added effect, some friends use ingredients like micro globules that coat your lips with a thin layer of water and improve on the look of fullness that the lip gloss brings on. Let's look at some of the top brands of plump lip gloss on the market and see what they have to recommend them.

First up is a brand that doesn't try to hide the irritation that it brings to your lips to help plump them up - it's by the PopBeauty cosmetics company, and it's called Bee Stung Maxi Lip Plump. They recommend this product for women who are beginning on their 50s and losing a quite a bit of their plumpness all around, especially on the lips.

Of course, you mustn't let the name scare you - the Bee Stung branding is just a little exaggeration to help with the sales. At $12 a bottle though, it can put some people off. Not everything's that expensive though. Sephora has a great moisturizing lip gloss in very light flesh colored shades. The product goes for $10 a pack and it tastes great.

Of course, plumping lip gloss isn't something you can use every day. The ingredients that irritate your lips can get to be too much over time and cause injury. If you can keep your use of plumping lip gloss to a minimum, for the times that you really wish to look your best, this is an idea that can be of great use.
